Ileana D’Cruz might not be actively working in films, but the actress has a huge following on social media, where she regularly posts updates. In a recent interview, the actress, who was last seen in the movie The Big Bull, opened up about the paparazzi culture and why it’s not for her.
“I hate it when people say that! I don’t vanish! I am right here. You don’t see me getting papped because I don’t share my whereabouts. I did get the taste of the pap culture a while ago, but I realized it wasn’t meant for me. It’s not who I am, and I think it’s completely okay to be different. I have been working and have finished shooting a lot of good work. So, yes, I have been doing good work, but doing it very quietly with my head down,” she said.
When asked if she feared being overlooked by filmmakers for not making public appearances, she admitted that she does think about it. However, she explained that she tried the whole PR thing but didn’t see much of a difference in terms of getting work. “It’s all about the personal equation you share with people (filmmakers). Producers and directors like to know their actors a little more. So, I like meeting people who are like-minded and who I want to work with. That’s the route I have taken,” she said.
For Ileana, her work takes priority, and she prefers to switch off and spend time with her family once she’s done. “When I am working, that becomes my priority, and once I am done with it, I switch off for a bit and spend time with my family. I feel that’s a good balance to have because I am not someone who can just work 24/7,” she said.
Ileana has been keeping busy with her work, but she chooses to keep it under wraps until it’s ready for release. She said that she’s finished shooting for a lot of good work but prefers to work quietly with her head down. “I have been doing a lot of work, and I think it’s been pretty amazing work. But I don’t like to talk about it until it’s ready for release. I don’t like to jinx it,” she said.
The actress has always been vocal about the importance of mental health and self-care, and she believes that taking breaks from work is essential. “It’s important to take breaks and step back to recharge your batteries. Sometimes, you need that space to re-evaluate your priorities and figure out what you really want to do,” she said.
Ileana has been part of the film industry for over a decade, and she’s seen the industry evolve over the years. While she’s happy with the opportunities that are available today, she believes that there’s still a long way to go. “I think the opportunities are definitely better now. But there’s still a lot of work to be done in terms of representation and diversity. It’s important to have different voices and perspectives, and I think we’re slowly moving in that direction,” she said.
In conclusion, Ileana chooses to work quietly with her head down, focusing on her work and taking breaks to recharge. She believes in building personal connections with filmmakers and meeting like-minded people to work with. While she’s not part of the paparazzi culture, she’s still very much present and doing good work, and she chooses to keep it under wraps until it’s ready for release.
