A lot has happened over coffee for three young people, Savan Oswal, Sangram Patil and Nilesh Palaskar who founded ‘Kiosk Kaffee,’ which has a turnover of Rs 7.5 crore in a short time.
After self funding from their pre-existing ventures before covid, Kiosk Kaffee is now poised for significant growth.
Kiosk Kaffee, which serves freshly brewed coffee to customers, has carved out a niche for itself since its inception in 2020 with just Rs 1 lakh is now paving way to success with more than 37 outlets country wide.
“There was a gap in the market for premium coffee ranges at an affordable price, so we started selling it in a cafe hop culture – exactly like how premium coffee ranges are sold internationally across beautiful cafes also and delivered throughout the day.” “We also created an appealing and distinctive coffee merchandise range and made it our specialty,” says Sangram Patil.
Excited by the idea of making premium coffee affordable to common man, the three talented founders set out on a recce to various Indian districts – famous for coffee plantations – and found that the best brands were buying beans and selling powdered form of coffee. They also discovered a sizable untapped market for freshly brewed coffee.
After coming up with the business idea, the three started their first Kiosk Kaffee office in 1 BHK flat in Pune, Maharashtra because it was a better and less expensive location for a startup.
Thus began three years of intense research, countless coffee tastings, research and development, experimenting, and planning. For nearly 1100 different recipes, they tried hundreds of coffee blends and brands over the course of two years. They developed a viable blueprint for the kiosk module after two years. After years of searching for the perfect premium coffee blend, we discovered that over 30 beverage recipes not only tasted great but also fit within their affordable price range. The previous year was dedicated to perfecting every recipe, and in-house trainers and Kaffee masters laid the groundwork for the success that you see today.
Founders confirm that their Kiosk concept was so popular that they would sometimes run out of stock in the middle of the day due to high demand from customers. Even if they started with small Kiosk models, they would make a lot of money because of their unique affordable premium coffee and snacks. They are literally the best in the coffee industry all over the country.
Kiosk Kaffee’s first-year revenue of Rs 30 lakh signalled the start of their slow and steady climb to success. Within six months, Kiosk Kaffee relocated to its headquarters in Pune, Maharashtra and started selling Kiosk Kaffee franchises. The demand for franchises was so high that they expanded to 40+ outlets in just a span of 2 years which is unbelievable!
For the first 18 months, they only sold a premium coffee range along with some snacks that experienced 200% annual growth. Later, they introduced an exclusive line of coffee merchandise for their customers.
Founders confirm that a cup of Ready-To-Drink coffee cost range starts at Rs 59 at Kiosk Kaffee. The consumer can enjoy the taste of freshly brewed 100% Arabica coffee and real milk at Kiosk Kaffee and as well as at their homes by placing orders online.
Because it is a category-creating product, creating consumer awareness is the most difficult challenge. To reach our target audience, we used social media and digital media. We had to explain why our coffee is less bitter and acidic while tasting better. “We created a consumer brand with a memorable name, Kiosk Kaffee which later establishes itself as a giant coffee empire” explains Nilesh.
The three founders, who worked day and night to get things going in the beginning, now employ 70+ people and operate various franchises all across the country.
