Dia Mirza, the former Miss India and Miss Asia Pacific International, recently opened up about her experience of getting better acting roles as she grows older. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, she spoke about how women are made to believe that they have a short career span, and how she never thought she would get to play some of the best parts of her life after hitting 40.

Dia made her acting debut in the 2001 film, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, opposite R Madhavan. She has since appeared in several films, web series, and TV shows, showcasing her versatility and acting skills. Some of her recent notable works include Sanju, Thappad, Kaafir, and Call My Agent: Bollywood. She was last seen in Anubhav Sinha’s Bheed, a film about the migrant workers’ crisis during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Dia is set to appear in the upcoming drama film, Dhak Dhak, alongside Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Sanjana Sanghi. Directed by Tarun Dudeja and produced by Taapsee Pannu from her banner Outsiders Films, the film is co-produced by Viacom18 Studios. In the film, Dia’s character accompanies her friends on a motorbike journey while dressed in a burqa and hijab.

Apart from Dhak Dhak, Dia is also said to have a role in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. She has previously worked with the director on Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Sanju.

Dia’s personal life has also been in the spotlight recently. In 2021, she tied the knot with businessman Vaibhav Rekhi in Mumbai. The couple welcomed their first child, a boy named Avyaan Azaad Rekhi, on May 14, 2021. Dia also has a step-daughter, Samaira Rekhi, from Vaibhav’s first marriage.

Dia’s comments about getting better acting roles after 40 are significant in an industry where ageism and gender bias are still prevalent. The notion that women have a shorter career span than men and that their opportunities diminish as they age is a stereotype that needs to be challenged and debunked.

Many women in the film industry have spoken up about the lack of good roles and opportunities for female actors over 40. Dia’s experience of getting better roles after hitting 40 breaks this stereotype and is an inspiration for women in the industry and beyond.

Dia’s success and achievements are a testament to her talent, hard work, and perseverance. Her journey in the industry shows that age and gender should not be a barrier to success and that with dedication and passion, anything is possible.

In conclusion, Dia Mirza’s experience of getting better acting roles after 40 is a reminder that age and gender should not limit one’s opportunities and success. It is time to break stereotypes and create a more inclusive and diverse industry where talent and hard work are recognized and rewarded, regardless of one’s age, gender, or background. Dia’s journey in the industry is an inspiration and a testament to the fact that anything is possible with dedication and perseverance.
