Elon Musk on Friday terminated the Twitter account of American musician Kanye West as he again breached the rule against incitement to violence. Yesterday Ye (previously known as Kanye West) provoked to anger by proclaiming his “love” of Nazis and respect for Adolf Hitler during an hours-long Livestream with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.
Making an unprecedented appearance on Jones’ Infowars, Ye disguised his face with a black mask as he ranted about immorality, pornography, and the devil.
“I like Hitler,” West declared at one point.
Further, West claimed he is running for US president in 2024 and has spoken frankly about his issues with mental illness.
West told far-right broadcaster Jones, “I see positive things about Hitler also,” and added, “This guy… developed highways, invented the same microphone that I used as a musician, you can’t say out loud that this person ever achieved anything nice, and I’m done with that. I’m done with the classification; every human being has something of value that they contributed to the table, particularly Hitler. I like Hitler”.
On 21 November, Musk reactivated West’s Twitter account.
At that moment, Musk tweeted, “Don’t murder what ye detest, Save what ye love.”
West’s earlier suspension from Twitter was also due to an antisemitic post.
West has recently lost significant brands for his inflammatory remarks.
In October, German sportswear firm Adidas ended its lucrative tie-up with West after the hip hop singer made anti-Semitic remarks, including threatening to “go death con three on JEWISH PEOPLE,” using a misspelling allusion to US military readiness.
Paris fashion brand Balenciaga and US apparel shop Gap have also terminated ties with West.
He arrived at a Paris fashion show wearing a shirt with the words “White Lives Matter,” a jab to the Black Lives Matter racial equality movement.
