Mamaearth co-founder Ghazal Alagh recently discussed her methods for handling stress and social media criticism amid managing a rapidly growing business. Following a viral incident where a customer harshly criticized Mamaearth’s products online, Alagh, also known as the Chief Mama, provided insights into how she maintains her composure and mental well-being in such situations. She emphasized that while she is aware of public opinions and the potential negativity on social media, she doesn’t allow these factors to significantly disturb her peace. Instead, she takes necessary actions when required and then moves forward without dwelling on negativity.
Ghazal Alagh also elaborated on how she juggles her professional responsibilities—overseeing seven different brands—with personal commitments, which include raising two children and leading a team of more than 1300 employees. To manage stress and anxiety, Alagh has implemented specific personal rules regarding her use of technology, particularly smartphones. She avoids using her phone during the first two hours after waking up and the last hour before going to bed. Moreover, she dedicates five hours to a digital detox every Sunday, which helps her disconnect and recharge, ensuring she remains effective in her multiple roles. These practices are part of her broader strategy to maintain mental health and a balanced lifestyle amidst the challenges of her professional and personal life.
