Former World Yoga Champion – 2016, Yoga Madhumitha sets a new record in Asian Yogasana Sports Championship by winning 3 medals in senior women’s category. She has created history by winning one Gold medal in Artistic Group championship under age category 18 to 28 Yrs (Women’s), one Silver medal in Traditional Yoga Championship under age category 21 to 24 Yrs (Women’s), and one Bronze medal in Rhythmic Pair championship under age category 18 to 28 Yrs (Women’s). The Championship took place in Bangkok, Thailand on 24th, 25th and 26th June 2023. The competition ended with a spectacular closing ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand attended by various higher authorities from different countries.

With this historic triumph, Yoga Madhumitha won hearts and had set a new standard by making this competition one of the biggest events in the space of Yoga, where competitors from 12 countries took part in this championship including India, India, Vietnam, Hongkong, China, Thailand, Iran, etc. The competition was intense and by returning with 3 medals, Yoga Madhumitha has started a new chapter in the history of Yoga in India. This not only proves Yoga Madhumitha’s talent but also showcases her strong dedication and commitment.

Dedicating this victory to her Dad Ramesh Nadar, Yoga Madhumitha expresses her happiness. She remained former World Yoga Champion in the year 2016, however, after 2016 she didn’t play and directly after 7 years gap she again decided to get going with Yoga and take part in Championship. After getting married to Dr. Aravind Lakshminarayanan (Yoga Aravind) in November 2022, she began practicing again. She initially gradually began participating in yoga competitions at the district, state, and national levels before being chosen for the Indian Yoga Team and taking home three medals for her country.

“It’s a proud moment for all of us” said her husband Dr. Aravind Lakshminarayanan (Yoga Aravind), himself a Gold medal winner and World Yoga Champion. He had also won World Yoga Cup in 2016 held in Indonesia.

Yoga Madhumitha triumphed with amazing success, inspiring admiration from everybody. Several Indian universities have approached her about receiving an honorary doctorate in recognition of her accomplishments. Her victory was the result of five months of nonstop practice for the competition, which she put in every day from 11 am to 9 pm for 10 to 12 hours. Everyone gave Yoga Madhumitha their blessings for promoting yoga and raising public awareness on how to incorporate it into daily life.
