Hailing from a small village of Bettiah Bihar Praveen Bharadwaj is a freelance journalist and a writer specialized in writing on rural issues and climate change. He has qualifications in environment and climate change, rural development policy, and a certification in green economy from the United Nation and a certification in Human Rights with a prior history of working with different government departments on social and environmental causes. He has also been a member of London Press Club and International Environmental Origination Earth Network. He is also a recipient of Abdul Kalam seva samman in the field of environment and wildlife conservation.
34 year old Praveen Bharadwaj from Bettiah represented India at the United Nations Conference on Policy and Future Plans on Rural Development. In this conference, Mr. Bhardwaj presented his address and research on women’s participation in rural development and more inclusive economic reforms. The conference was organized by the United Nations to bring rural development to the center of the conference on the basis of the World Social Report 2021. The address began with a discussion on various aspects of rural development in India and in countries like India by Shri Bhardwaj. Countries like India where most of the population is rural, the need for rethinking by policy makers, keeping in mind the rural economy, was emphasized. According to recent national and many international reports, India’s concern has been expressed over the declining participation of women in the field of employment. While discussing the report, he talked about giving thrust to more and more gender inclusive employment. He stressed that a self-reliant rural economy is not possible without keeping rural women at the center.
Praveen has also worked on a detailed report on the topic of Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve and Ecotourism. In this, the wide potential of ecotourism in Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve was discussed. In this regard, a memento of this report was presented by Shri Praveen Bhardwaj to the Environment Minister of Bihar, Shri Neeraj Singh.

Praveen has several projects in the pipeline which includes the Rising Rural Bihar project, Valmiki Tiger Reserve in Bihar, and Agriculture growth of Eastern India. Praveen has always worked on what’s important by prioritizing what’s urgent by making it happen. Praveen is a native of Bettiah Bihar currently staying in Ghaziabad, UP. Very soon Praveen will be honored with Bihar Gaurav Award in September 2021.
