When he was 10 years old, his uncle gave him a Harmonica as a birthday Gift. This tiny instrument has changed his life in different way.
Though Soham was a brilliant student, he had to face some problems because of his father’s irresponsible attitude and some family problems. Even he had to continue his educational journey by choosing a wrong subject only fulfil his father’s wish. He also had to suffer with his father’s freakish behaviour in every moment in his life. But nothing could separate him fro his harmonica.
Playing Harmonica was his first love. He invented the process of playing Harmonica by nose and this amazed everyone.
When Soham Mukhopadhyay played harmonica through his nostrils for 13 minutes and 26 seconds continuously at Kailasagiri Hill, it made people wonder how he was able to belt out melodies using his nose without any extra effort.
From ‘Hai apna dil to awara’ (Solva Saal) to ‘Kyun ki tum hi ho’ (Aashiqui 2), the teacher-musician was quick enough to change the tracks and offer a new kind of entertainment to Vizagites during his maiden trip to the city.
“I receive encouraging responses when I play filmy tracks at a stretch by nose. I also had an opportunity to interact with viewers and convince them that music has a tremendous impact on one’s well-being and that we can make healthy choices a way of life by practising harmonica”, he said to entrepreneur story.
He chose this tiny instrument to help the mankind with the help of yoga techniques.
When asked whether it is difficult to play mouth organ with nose? Mr. Mukhopadhyay says, “I have been practising yoga since my childhood. Pranayama helped me gain control over breathing. When I picked up the nuances of harmonica at the age of 10 years, it took me a little time to experiment with my nostrils and discover a similar effect.”
Universal Records Forum, which conferred him the title ‘Father of ‘Nose’ Monica,’ says that he can play mouth organ for hours.
“My mission is to take up the anti-smoking campaign forward by visiting States across the country and promote health and wellness by playing harmonica,” he says. His Mother Purnima Mukhopadhyay and Wife Payel Mukhopadhyay have always inspired him to push boundaries.
Now a days, people suffering from Breathing problems because of many reasons like smoking, lack of exercise and the threat of Covid.
Soham’s mission is to make people aware about the above said issue and help them to recover from such bad habits with the help of harmonica- yoga.
He has several students across the world and also he is doing online workshops like harmonica breathing, happy hours with children, music meditation, quit smoking with harmonica for curing people.
