Mumbai, November 22, 2022: Users of Netflix will be able to watch “Chhello Show,” India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards, starting on Friday (November 25). A Gujarati film with the English title “Last Film Show” debuted in Indian theatres on October 14. Samay, a nine-year-old boy, travels to the ends of the globe in pursuit of his 35mm dreams in Pan Nalin’s semi-autobiographical coming-of-age drama while unaware of the tragic events that would soon befall him.
Nalin stated his joy at partnering with Netflix to spread awareness of the film among more people. “Last Film Show is a celebration of movies, food, friends, and family, and fans in India can now enjoy just that while viewing it in the comfort of their homes,” the film’s website states.
“As a filmmaker, I want that the movie reaches the broadest audience possible, and today, thanks to Netflix, Last Film Show is just a click away,” the director said.
Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur of Roy Kapur Films acknowledged the team’s joy about Chhello Show’s selection by Netflix India. The film will also be accessible on the streaming service with Hindi dubbing.
Chhello Show has been nominated for and screened at several prestigious film festivals, including Tribeca and the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema. It also won the best film at the most recent Asian World Film Festival held in Los Angeles.
It will have a special showing during the current International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
