In a candid interview at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Pankaj Tripathi discussed his career trajectory and how he achieved it without the help of an industry mentor.
The 47-year-old from a Bihar hamlet has gone a long way from playing a blink-and-miss role in Run (2004) to taking center stage in blockbuster films like Mirzapur, Ludo, Kaagaz, and Criminal Justice.
During the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Pankaj had a one-on-one interview with ANI where he opened up about his career trajectory to date and how he overcame the lack of an industry godfather to reach the top. I’m from a modest household. Even though we had to fight to acquire the bare minimum of power in my town, we were content. Even though I used to live apart from the acting community, performing now occupies every aspect of my life. It was natural for me to fall in love with movies.
Never enter a career for the sake of fame and fortune. Learn about your love and needs first to comprehend why you want to work here (in the film business). Remembering his first salary, he said, “Money will come to you some time. Kaam dil se karoge paisa zarur miljaega life me.
“I can recall getting paid Rs 1700 for my first job on television,” he said.
Pankaj established a standard for Hindi filmmaking more than fifteen years into his career in the film business and with a resume full of ground-breaking performances.
